I LIVE IN REALITY.

Dear Courage-Seeking Nonprofit Leader,

YOU SHOULD COME.

I don’t believe that there are two sides to every coin.

Some matters in life just hold objective truths. When it comes to fundraising and what it takes to make major change today, the way I see it is there’s just one way to see it.

These are straight #facts - not beliefs.

About raising major gifts in a world ready to say “Yes”.

Yes, you read that right. People actually want to give. You’ll see.

Here’s the Truth:

1

Major giving is really just mission-rooted friendship.

2

Courage is the catalyst to making real change in today’s world.

3

Giving is a gift to the giver.

Normally, I would ask if you agree, but since these are actual, factual realities about the future of fundraising, I’ll just leave you with this question:

Are you ready to get to work?

The world isn’t going to change unless we do.

Core Values

JUSTICE

The world’s toughest problems demand our very best. We are details-obsessed, addicted to learning and continuous improvement.

Our ambition is to create world-class programs and services that mobilize billions to solve the world’s biggest problems.

COURAGE

Courage is the greatest skills gap in the nonprofit sector and the greatest catalyst for social change.

We place impact above comfort and service of others above service of self. To make major change in today’s world, we must choose humility, hold out hope, and become the most courageous versions of ourselves.

EXCELLENCE

We exist to build a world where everyone has the opportunity and access to thrive. We can end oppression and extreme poverty in our lifetime.

Our work is rooted in active anti-racism. We seek to serve nonprofit organizations and leaders serving and uplifting marginalized communities.

You should know where & why I stand.

On making this world something equal… for every human.

The status quo must be shattered.

Women make up the majority of fundraisers in America, yet we don’t hold the majority of seats on any board. Women of color, by comparison, are far less represented and have a higher hill to climb just to be taken seriously. This disparity isn’t just true in the nonprofit world; it’s a reflection of the lack of diversity in business, our government, and all areas where power resides.

It’s a problem, to say the least - one that affects fundraising from the inside out.

I refuse to accept a reality where I am the diversity hire.

I will not stand by while women are harassed by men when asking for major gifts.

I reject the idea that equality has nothing to do with raising money.

Personally, I am committed to exemplifying what I hope the future of the nonprofit sector will be. As I build my team, you’ll see that everyone won’t look like me. As I collaborate with other leaders and organizations, I will pour my heart into those that value inclusion, while also uplifting those who recognize they have work to do. The best of what we have to offer the world, as people, lies in our ability to value and respect diversity. Only then can we effectively fundraise, fulfill today’s most important missions, and MAKE MAJOR CHANGE.

We must work together to create a world where justice and equality are reflected in everything that we do and everyone that we do it with.

Are you with me?

THE BEST PART.

I am a woman of faith who follows Jesus, which explains everything.
