You Should Know Me

Not because I’m some famous
world-changer, but because

I wanna make you one.

Hey, I’m Julie!

I am a Change Agent. A Challenger.

A bonafide Fundraiser and Certified Risk Taker.

I believe in the power of Courage, the good that comes from genuine Generosity, but most importantly - I believe in the audacity of the Ask.

My life's work lies in helping nonprofit leaders fearlessly pursue theirs by raising major gifts that make major change.

Can I help you?

The Backstory

(You’ll want to read to see how I met Michelle Obama.)

I’m originally from Houston, Texas where we come a little spicier. My family volunteered in church every week when I was growing up. I’m married to an incredible man who I met in Spanish class at Texas Christian University (TCU). There, I earned a B.A. in Communications, Spanish and Latin American Studies.

From the time I was a little girl, I always knew I wanted to change the world.

As an adult, I found that the best way to do it would be in the realm of social impact.

After college, I made my way to Los Angeles, and eventually fell in love with fundraising.  I was young, jobless, and without a clue on how to raise a penny. I did it anyway.

(Shout out to my boss who paid for me to get trained in a field I knew nothing about.)

Fast forward to 2010 when I became good - real good - at raising money for nonprofit organizations. Maybe it was my charm that made it all work. Could've been my courage and the fearless audacity that sometimes failed me, but usually worked in my favor.

Whatever it was, it wasn’t long before I realized that this wasn’t just a lucky streak; It was a signal that I was born to do this, and to show others how to do it, too.

Over the past 12 years, I’ve unlocked the path to more effective fundraising through major gifts by raising millions from individuals at local, national and international nonprofits.

The Proof is in the Pudding.

I doubled the number of young professional donors at United Way and executed a Women’s Summit featuring Michelle Obama and Kerry Washington. I’ve trained executives, board members, and celebrity donors of 8-figure organizations to close their first-ever six and seven-figure gifts. Don’t get it twisted—I haven’t met every fundraising goal. But, I have learned a lot about audacity just from asking big and failing fast.

I believe that Courage is what’s missing in the Nonprofit world.

How can we solve society’s biggest problems if we are afraid to approach a board member to give? Do we really value relationships if we’re afraid to tap into the ones we’ve already cultivated? How can we make major change today without the courage to ask for more?

Here’s where I come in.

My mission is to Equip Ambitious Nonprofit Leaders with the Courage to ask for more.

Because no one ever changed the world without first changing themselves.

And, in real life,
I’ve done it.

I’ve raised millions from individuals and trained executives of $1M - $26M organizations to do the same.

On a lighter note, I wouldn’t change these things (or people) for the world.

The intensity of weight lifting 3x a week.
It’s the ultimate stress reliever.

L.A.’s sunset.
More than inspiring.

Trey.
No words necessary.

Cobalt Blue.
Obviously I look good in it.

Rare Beauty’s Lip Souffle in Inspire.
One swipe and I’m brand new.
